Exercise physiology

At Beyond Limits Paediatric Therapy, our Exercise Physiology service supports children to build strong foundations in movement, confidence, and overall physical health.

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) use evidence-based physical activity programs to help children develop essential motor skills, improve their participation in everyday activities, and promote long-term health outcomes.

Who We Support

Exercise Physiology is suitable for children with or at risk of:

  • Developmental delay or disability

  • Low muscle tone or poor coordination

  • Autism or neurodevelopmental differences

  • Delayed motor milestones or fatigue

  • Challenges with active participation in group or community settings

Our team specialises in working with young children aged 0–7 who are receiving early supports through the NDIS. We tailor all interventions to meet the functional goals identified by families and NDIS plans.

Paediatric Exercise Physiologist services include:

  • Comprehensive fitness and motor skill assessments

  • Intervention for children returning to sport after an injury

  • Intervention for improving motor and sports skills

  • Biomechanical sporting and postural screenings

  • Gross motor skills training

  • Sports and ball skills training

  • Digital sessions (telehealth)

  • Bike riding skills training

  • Asthma and cardiovascular condition management

  • Childhood cancer exercise management

  • Education for schools and groups

Supporting Early Development Through Movement

For many young children, difficulties with physical skills—such as balance, coordination, or muscle strength—can impact their ability to play, learn, and keep up with peers. Our Exercise Physiologists work closely with families to identify early signs of physical delay and implement targeted supports to:

  • Build gross motor skills such as running, jumping, climbing, and crawling

  • Develop core strength, posture, and stability for better movement control

  • Improve endurance and energy for daily participation at home, school, or childcare

  • Support regulation and sensory needs through active play and movement-based therapy

  • Encourage positive habits for physical activity and overall wellbeing from an early age

Family-Centred, Play-Based Support

We believe that movement should be fun, purposeful, and part of everyday life. Our AEPs use play-based strategies to engage children in active learning, and we work alongside families, educators, and other therapists to create holistic, integrated support plans.

Whether it’s helping a child learn to pedal a bike, join in at playgroup, or move with greater confidence in daily life, our Exercise Physiology service aims to equip every child with the physical tools they need to thrive.
